Grade 7 math course outline

Grade 7 Math Course Outline

Mr. Steinhoff Room 8

Welcome to Lockport School and to room 8.  I am looking forward to working with you this year.
After reading these couple of pages you will know what to expect in Math and the topics that we are planning to cover this year and what you need to do in order to have a successful year.
It is important for you to know that I expect students to behave, be polite and work hard.
You can expect the same from me.  I will treat you with respect and will work hard with you in order to help you reach your goals.  I will spend extra time with you if you need it.  I will push you to do your best.  I will treat you as a young adult.

In Math we will be using a textbook and I will give out worksheets as well.  The units we will cover are:

1.     Fractions/Decimals
2.     Ratio/Percent
3.     Integers
4.     Algebra
5.     Geometry
6.     Statistics and probability

Materials:
Pencil, pen, paper, binder, graph paper, ruler, geometry set and a CALCULATOR.  You need to bring these to every class.

Late or Missing Assignments:
There are times during the school year students forget to hand in their work, miss a class due to illness or do not have a chance to finish the work during class.  If this happens to you, all you have to do is make an appointment with me at noon and we will mark the assignment together.  It is important to know that I am trying to teach you have to be more responsible, if you do not make an appointment with me, I will not chase you trying to get the work in.

Homework
I try to give enough time in class to finish every assignment, if you do not finish, it might become homework.  If you do not finish your homework you will have to make an appointment with me so we can mark it together.  If you are absent for any reason, it is your responsibility to check my website the work that was missed.

Parents:
If at any time you have questions about your son or daughter’s progress, please contact me at school (757-9881).  You can also email me at ssteinhoff@lssd.ca
