New story

The students have been shown the new story called "le garçon qui joue des tours".  Ask you son/daughter what it's about.  The grade 9s have completed their first assignment and the grade 8s will see it in a few weeks.
So far we have been mainly talking french  in class, establishing the daily routines, and learning how to ask and answer basic questions.  Reading and written work should start in a few weeks.
There won't be any "homework" until students get a copy of the story, at that point their daily homework should be to read the story once per night so they get very familiar with it.

Great first cycle

The first 6 day cycle is finished and we have had a great start up.  Students are learning opening and closing routines (all in French), vocab words and how to make small sentences with them.  I will be introducing our story in the next week or 2.

Grade 9 writing

I was very impressed how much some of the grade 9s were ablt to write today in class.  We toured the school and talked about different rooms, classes, teachers and what goes on in the bear pits.  Students then came back to class and write about what we say, talked about or anything that they tought about while on the tour.  The sentences that students created are anything other than "basic" French.

Points for being awesome

The points are for participating and speaking in class and sometimes just because the class is awesome.

French verbs

Here is how we were conjugating verbs infrench class through an oral activity about what they did on the weekend.  They started by saying what they did, then wrote it on a piece of paper.  Then after trading the paper with various people, they had to find who the paper belonged to be ask a question like "est-ce que tu as regardé le hockey?".  Then when they found the person, they had to present that person and what they did on the weekend by using il or elle.

French numbers

Here are the number my grade 8 class created today by counting "les pinces".  I am so impressed my students are able to  say numbers into the millions.

Le chat de Simon

We have watched a few videos about this cat and we will watch a few more as the year goes on.
Here are some questions I would like you to think about:
1.  Qu'est-ce que le chat fait?
2.  Qu'est-ce que Simon fait?

Here is a video.
