COURSE OUTLINE
Please bring a pencil, an eraser and your agenda to each
class.
Course content
In this course, you already have experience in how you may
learn through a hands-on, active-
learning approach that uses gestures, plays and other activities. Hopefully, you feel you have already learned a great deal. You will continue to expand your vocabulary and there will be even more opportunities for you to develop your French language skills. By the end of this kit, you will be expected to read, write, speak and understand French using the past, present and future tenses.

Classroom rules
Here is the most important one: Speak
only in French! It is important to support your own learning and the
learning of others by respecting this rule.
English is not to be used in the classroom.
Students will be assessed through observations, products and
conversations. They will be evaluated
through a balanced literacy approach. We
will focus on speaking approximately 50%, reading 25% and writing 25% of the
year.
There is a DVD in the library that students can sign
out. They can practice the gestures and
watch the play at home. It is a valuable
tool, the more work they do at home the more they will understand the
story. There are several ways to watch
the French DVD:
- watch with the sound and subtitles for the play, raps and
gestures, and repeat;
- watch the gestures without the sound and say each word as
it is gestured;
- listen and gesture the words.
We will have written homework from time to time, if we do, I
expect you to finish it on the date due.
If there is no written homework you can review (study) the play or
review words from your DVD.
You should be spending a minimum of 5 minutes on French
every day. Parents, there is always something your daughter/son can be working
on.
